Vortex Viper HD 8X42 Roof Prism Binocular Review

One of the most affordable yet efficient hunting binoculars we found is the Vortex Viper HD 8×42. It inherits the capabilities of the Vortex Viper HD 10×42 which is considered as one of the best binoculars in the market. It can compete with other known brands that are up to four times more expensive. We created a Vortex Viper HD 8×42 review to reinforce our belief that Vortex can be classified as one of the best manufacturers of binoculars.Vortex Viper HD 8x42 Binocular ReviewVortex Viper HD 8×42 Features
HD Lens Elements – The Vortex Viper HD 8×42 is equipped with high-density lenses. But since a great pair of binoculars is not reliant on HD lenses alone, Vortex used extra-low dispersion glasses. It delivers optimal color fidelity and superior resolution. As a result, you get High Definition images. Whatever it is that you need to survey, you will be able to survey them in maximum clarity.

XR Lens Coatings – In order for the lenses to increase light transmission, they must have an efficient coating. Vortex used their proprietary coating technology which is called XR anti-reflective coating. All air-to-glass surfaces in the Vortex Viper HD 8×42 are multi-coated. In all situations, you can expect increased light transmission and get maximum brightness.

Phase Correction – This feature is available only on roof prism models. This coating enhances the contrast and resolution of the images you see in the Vortex Viper. This feature further enhances the capabilities of the XR lens coatings and the HD elements of the lens. This way, you are guaranteed to see crisp and clear images.

Roof Prisms – These components have become a favorite of binocular users because they provide greater durability. Also, they allow the manufacturer to create the Vortex in a compact and portable size.

Waterproof – This feature allows the user to take the Vortex Viper HD 8×42 practically anywhere. The optic device is sealed with O-rings that efficiently prevent moisture, debris and dust from penetrating the binocular. You can use it under the rain, in the desert, and the forest just to name a few. You can take the Vortex Viper anywhere you wish to have an adventure.

Argon Filled – The spaces in between the lenses are filled with argon, making it resistant to moisture. You will always be able to see through any kind of weather.

Vortex Viper HD 8x42 BinocularWhat Users Can Expect
By the touch, the binocular is handy and feel well built. It looks stylish too. It offers good transmission that the images that you see in almost any field or point of view are sharp, thanks to its excellent distortion control.

The Vortex Viper HD 8×42 is very low in astigmatism and thus guarantees great comfort for the user. It has high-quality coatings and prisms, and a sensible coma control. The binoculars also render whiteness well. On the edge of the fields, the binoculars also have low brightness loss. And one of the most amazing things that it offers is the lifetime warranty from Vortex.

What We did not Like About the Vortex
There are not many flaws with the Vortex Viper HD 8×42. If there is one drawback, that would be the exit pupils because they are shaped like eggs. That is probably because the manufacturers tried to make the binoculars lighter for its class. While they succeeded in this area, they ended up sacrificing the prisms, thus the egg-shaped exit pupils. But this is too small a reason to deter prospective Vortex Viper HD 8×42 owners. For its price, these binoculars give great value. You can never go wrong with the Vortex Viper HD 8×42.

Overall the Vortex Viper HD8x42 is a good pair of binoculars that can certainly be useful for your surveillance needs.
